Summer is finally here!
Well, the heatwave has certainly hit us this week and I certainly felt a little unprepared! But it's been lovely to finally have some heat and sunshine after the last few weeks of weather! We're also in full swing with wedding season AND the schools break up at the end of this week too! It's all go! We've got some beautiful presentation bouquets below for teachers gifts and lots of gifts in our shop too if you still need something. Don't forget we have now started opening on Sundays from 10am - 4pm, so you can grab a beautiful bouquet or gift at the weekend too.
Dahlias or Zinnias are in season at the moment and they come in such a wide variety of colours and types you can easily find one to match your style. There are several meanings to them - mostly thoughts of friends (the Victorians used them for absent friends), lasting affection and daily remembrance - a lovely flower for friendship. Caring for buttonholes in the summer months is pretty stressful, especially in hot weather! Here are some common FAQs and our advice:
Should I put my flowers in the fridge to keep them fresh? Definitely not! Food fridges work at a lower humidity and will dry the flowers out. Just keep them in a cool and draught free area until you need them.
Can I leave the buttonholes in my car? If the weather is hot, we wouldn't recommend it, as they won't survive. Try to limit the amount of time you have them in the car if possible.
Is it true I should keep the flowers away from fruit? Yes, fruit emits a gas that age flowers very quickly.
Which side should I wear my buttonhole? Men should wear theirs on the left (unless military and then wear on the right, opposite to medals) and the way to remember which side women wear their buttonholes/corsage on is that Woman are ALWAYS right ;-) .Ladies corsages should always point down, however buttonholes can point up or down.
Anything else to remember? Be careful with your seatbelt when you get in the car - better to put them on once you arrive at the venue.

Fantastic white heart arrangement with a red C in roses for my darling Cilla in Allerton Cemetry on her Birthday....done by Gemma at Booker. Nothing is too much trouble for them and attention to detail takes them into another class. Let down twice in the past by a very well known Liverpool Florist it was with a heavy heart I changed to Booker. I needn't have worried simply flowers for a star and done perfectly.
It's not often I get more than I expected...this happened with Booker Flowers.
