Hi Gemma

It is weddings all the way at Booker Flowers at the moment.

We are very excited to have been chosen to work with Interflora and the famous designer Vera Wang on a specialist Wedding Flowers collection, one of only a very small number of florists in the area to have been selected. It is a wonderful opportunity. More on this next month hopefully.

And with perfect timing, we have also been working very hard on creating a new Wedding Flowers website and will hopefully have a link for that for you in next month's issue too.

In other news, we have a vacancy for a florist so if you know anyone who might be interested, read the note below and ask them to get in touch. Thanks very much!

Best wishes,
Gemma at Booker Flowers and Gifts

Job Opportunity

One of our florists is leaving to look after her grandchild so we now have a part time vacancy for a experienced florist for 3 days a week.

The ideal person would also need to have good people skills, some sales experience, basic computer skills and a full UK driving licence.

If you or anyone you know may be interested please send your CV to Gemma as soon as possible.

Closing Date September 15th 2012.

"Flowers were beautiful"

"To Gemma,

Thank you so much for your help in making our wedding on 4th June 2012 so wonderful.

The flowers were beautiful – as many of our guests commented.

I also loved the heart of petals in our hotel room!

Thanks again x"

Featured gift of the month

We have got lots of new items in our homeware department for you this month. There is definitely a wooden shabby chic look going on at the moment, with lots of lime washed wood and the ever popular hearts.
Particularly attractive are these wooden lime washed shelves and drawers with hangers at the bottom and heart detail.

The shelves are £90. All our gifts are available online to browse or order, or you can see them in our gift shop on Booker Avenue. This is the website link for our homeware products.

This flamboyant array of colourful germinis makes a very vibrant gift. We've chosen fun, bright colours for a contemporary look, adding just a little foliage for the finishing touch. This is the ultimate feel-good gift, perfect to make someone smile.

Featuring cerise, yellow and orange germinis with salal presented in a curved glass vase and finished with a green sisal collar.

£26.99, vase included, same day delivery available

Visit our
Booker Flower website to order these or any other of our beautiful new summer range of flowers.

How to care for your hand-tied Bouquet

A hand-tied bouquet will often come in a an aqua pack. This is where the bouquet is arranged and tied off (so there is no need for the recipient to rearrange if they don’t want to). It is then wrapped and the stems sit in a water bubble. This will then usually be delivered in a bag such as the one pictured.

When flowers are delivered like this they can remain in the aqua pack for a maximum of 3 days, but after this to ensure maximum life of the flowers, the water really needs changing. To do this, carefully remove the wrapping from around the stems, containing the water, but leaving the tie in place so that the bouquet retains it shape
.

Then fill your vase with tepid water and add the flower food supplied. Re-cut the stems with a sharp knife or pair of scissors to the right length, so that the edge of the design rests on the edge of the vase. To get optimum life from your flowers re-cut the stems, remove any faded blooms and change the water every few days.

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken.

Opportunity for Wedding Suppliers

As mentioned above we will soon be launching our wedding flower website. This will have a page of recommended wedding suppliers. If your or anyone you know has a relevant business and would like to discuss possibly being included on this list please send an email to
