Hi Gemma Wakerley

Welcome to our May newsletter. And hasn't it been a poor month in terms of the weather so far? Hopefully you will find something to cheer you up here.

For those of you who don’t know, it will be International Mothers Day on Sunday 13th May. So if you live abroad and forgot to send flowers on British Mothers Day in March, now may be a good time to make up for it. Or alternatively if your mum (or someone special to you) lives abroad, we can organise flowers for her, to wherever she is in the world.

May is also a great time to get to work in your garden or yard, we have some great garden and outdoor gifts you will love.

There is also good news for one lucky reader who entered our April competition

If you have any suggestions or comments for our next newsletter please email me

Best wishes, Gemma at Booker Flowers and Gifts

Competition

Last month we asked you to name your favourite flower - and why.

Thanks to all those of you who entered! Our lucky winner, drawn out of the hat, was Gemma Smith whose favourite flower is the Protea (pictured above)

"The colours are beautiful and the flowers come in a mixture of sizes. It's South Africa's national flower, which in a way represents me as that's where I'm from. Sporting teams are named after this flower and I am very enthusiastic about South African sport too, mainly rugby or cricket".
Well done Gemma (great name by the way!), we will be touch shortly to arrange who and where you would like your free flowers delivered to.

"Just what we asked for!"

"Thank you so much for our flowers on Saturday, they were perfect!

Just what we asked for!

Lots of love"

Jen and Rob

Caring for your fresh flowers

Flowers with hairy stems, like gerberas and sunflowers, are very prone to infection which plugs up the stem and stops the flower from sucking up water. This causes the flower to draw moisture from the stem which makes the head drop.

To help prevent this the water and the vases need to be kept very clean, so add a drop of bleach to the water this helps stop bacteria from forming and means the stems can freely drink.
